Issue:

 

Printer compatibility for the NEO.

 

Reason:

 

The NEO offers several methods for printing documents directly to a printer.

 

Resolution:

 

• If you are utilizing the ACTiSYS IR100MU USB Printer Pod to print from a NEO via infrared, see KB article #6609294.

 

• If you are connecting the NEO directly to a printer with a USB cable, the following guidelines can be used to determine if a printer will be compatible:

 

1)     A printer will not be compatible with the NEO if the specifications indicate “Host-based” or “Host-driven” printing, or GDI emulation.

 

2)     The printer is likely to be compatible if the model supports ESC emulation (Epson brand printers), PCL or postscript emulation (HP and other brand printers).

 

NOTE:  Due to the short life cycle of printers, AlphaSmart Inc. does not test specific models for compatibility.  Previous testing efforts are documented HERE, however the models listed may no longer be available for purchase.
