How can I connect my AlphaSmart Pro or 2000 to a new PC that only has USB ports?

Product: AlphaSmart 2000, AlphaSmart Pro
Platform: Macintosh, Windows
Last Updated: 2008/06/17

Issue:

How can I connect my AlphaSmart Pro or 2000 to a new PC that only has USB ports?

Resolution:

If the computer is a newer computer that only has USB ports, you can use the USB to ADB cable.  This cable supports direct text transfer, but is not compatible with the Get Utility application.

If an AlphaSmart 2000 has infrared, you can also send text to a USB-only computer with our USB Infrared Pod.  If you are unsure if your 2000 has infrared, press the <send> key when in a file. If the unit displays a message that says "Connecting to computer (wireless mode)" then you have infrared.
