Issue: STAR Math and STAR Reading tests are not
saving to the database when students test from an OS X workstation. Reason: When students take a test, a temporary file
is created on the local hard drive at Macintosh HD | Library | Application
Support | Renaissance Learning | <STAR Program> Network | Backup. (For
example, if students are testing in STAR Reading, the folder in Renaissance
Learning is called STAR Reading Network.) This temporary file contains the
student’s responses; at the end of the test the server is updated with the test
results. The Backup folder has Read & Write permissions for the user that
created it, allowing the temporary file to create and the test to save
correctly. Any other users that log in to the computer have only Read permissions
to this Backup folder, preventing the temporary file from being created. Resolution: 1)
Log in to the computer as Owner or a
member of the admin group. 2)
Open Macintosh HD | Library |
Application Support | Renaissance Learning | <STAR Program> Network, and
drag the Backup folder to the trash. 3)
Create a new folder in the STAR
Network folder and name it Backup. 4)
Click on the Backup folder and choose
Get Info from the File Menu. 5)
Open the Ownership & Permissions
section and change access for Group and Others to “Read & Write”. 6)
Close Backup Info. Repeat these steps for each program you are
using, on all OS X computers where students might test in STAR Reading or STAR
Math. This issue has resolved in Renaissance Place
1.0, release 0311A. For upgrade details,
please contact Renaissance Learning Technical Support. |
