Issue:
Upgrading
your Accelerated Math 1.x libraries to 2.x libraries.
Reason:
Various
Accelerated Math content libraries have been updated with release 2.x and
forward. Some math objectives have been added, renamed, split into two skills,
deleted, replaced, or re-sequenced. We highly recommend waiting until the end
of a marking period or school year, and familiarizing yourself with the new
content, before installing your new libraries and adding their objectives to
your assignment (record) books.
Resolution:
You
will need to upgrade to the current desktop version prior to installing the
updated libraries. The Accelerated Math 2.x CD is available by contacting answers@renlearn.com.
The update to the most current version is also available from our Download
Center. For upgrade instructions, please see article #2447571.
The
affected Standard Libraries are Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Basic Math, Calculus,
Geometry, Grades 1-7, Pre-Algebra, Pre-Calculus, California and Texas Standards
Aligned. If you are using any of the libraries listed, you will need to check
the Libraries screen to verify the revision number of your installed
libraries. 1.x libraries, Texas and
California Standards Aligned will have the revision number of 1, except Texas
grade 7 where the revision number will be 2; all other 2.x libraries will have
the revision number of 2. You may want
to click on the [Report] button at the Libraries screen to verify if
classes actually have the 1.x library objectives assigned to their
classes. If you find that no one is
using the 1.x library, we recommend that you delete the library out of the
program so that it doesn’t get added accidentally to any classes.
When
you are ready to upgrade to the new 2.x libraries, follow the instructions
below. You will need to decide whether
you want to keep ongoing records or if you would like the students to start
over. If you are setting up for the new
school year, you may decide to have them start over since their libraries may
not be the same from year to year.
Follow the Upgrading to 2.x Libraries and Transferring Accelerated
Math Data instructions if you are looking to keep your student’s
Accelerated Math data and use the Upgrading to 2.x Libraries and Setting Up
Classes for New School Year instructions if you wish to start over.
Note: Before starting either set of instructions, it is
recommended that you get a student export of all of your students along with
all of their Accelerated Math details.
Just go to Students under the School section of the Go menu and choose
[Export] from the Students menu.
Choose to save the export to either your desktop or local hard
drive. This will give you a current backup.
Upgrading
to 2.x Libraries and Transferring Accelerated Math Data
1)
Score
all outstanding assignments through the Accelerated Math Management
program. All assignments left
outstanding will be deleted during the student transfer.
2)
Install
the Accelerated Math 2.x libraries in the program. You can download the latest libraries from our Download Center at
http://download.renlearn.com. You will need to have your Accelerated Math
serial number handy to access the download.
The instructions for downloading and installing the library can also be
viewed from this site
3)
Add
a new class. You will not want to
continue using your same class because it has the 1.x library objectives
assigned. Do not duplicate your class
either as this will also duplicate those 1.x library objectives.
4)
Add
the 2.x library objectives to the class.
Remember the 1.x and 2.x libraries have the same name, be sure to select
the library with the highest revision number. From the Assignment Book menu
choose [Add Objectives] to add the 2.x library to your class.
5)
Use
the Student Transfer feature in the Classes screen (found under the Classes
menu) to move students from the old 1.x class to the new 2.x class. You will be shown the percent of work, which
can be transferred for each student. If
you are transferring students into a new 2.x class that is using the same grade
level library, most of their data will transfer. If you are transferring students to a new grade with a different
library, none of the data will transfer.
6)
Once
you have transferred all of your students to the new class, delete the old
class.
7)
Once
all the classes are utilizing the 2.x libraries, you can delete the 1.x
libraries from the Libraries screen.
Remember the 1.x and 2.x libraries have the same name, be sure to select
the library with the lowest revision number.
You will be unable to delete the library if the library’s objectives are
still assigned to a class.
Upgrading
to 2.x Libraries and Setting Up Classes for New School Year
1)
Install
the Accelerated Math 2.x libraries in the program. You can download the latest libraries from our Download Center at
http://download.renlearn.com. You will need to have your Accelerated Math
serial number handy to access the download.
The instructions for downloading and installing the library can also be
viewed from this site.
2)
Unenroll
students from their classes. You can unenroll all students by going to the
Classes menu and choosing [Unenroll All Students]. Unenrolling students will
cause Accelerated Math data to be deleted.
If you need to keep ongoing records, follow the Upgrading to 2.x
Libraries and Transferring Accelerated Math Data instructions listed
above.
3)
Delete
the 1.x library objectives from each class.
There should now be no students enrolled into the class. Under Classroom, go to Assignment Book,
highlight all 1.0x objectives by clicking on the first objective in the list
and holding down the [Shift] key while clicking on the last objective. Then just go under the Assignment Book menu
and choose [Delete Objectives].
4)
Add
the 2.x library objectives to the class.
Remember the 1.x and 2.x libraries have the same name, be sure to select
the library with the highest revision number. From the Assignment Book menu
choose [Add Objectives] to add the 2.x library to your class.
5)
Repeat
Steps 3 and 4 for each class.
6)
Once
all the classes are utilizing the 2.x libraries, you can delete the 1.x
libraries from the Libraries screen.
Remember the 1.x and 2.x libraries have the same name; be sure to select
the library with lowest revision number. You will be unable to delete the
library if the library’s objectives are still assigned to a class.
7)
You
can now continue on with your School Year Setup by going to Knowledge Base
Article #2157546
and picking back up on Step 3.
