Issue:
You may experience
data corruption with your Renaissance Learning software when using a Novell
server and Novell Client version 3.2. In most cases, this issue will present
itself as a 16027 or 16041 error. Data Doctor may not repair the corruption and
would cause you to experience one of the following:
- The arptstb.ard file is corrupted and cannot be used.
- The arclass.ard file is corrupted and cannot be used.
- The student.fmd file is corrupted and cannot be used.
After running Data
Doctor, make sure to note which file or files were not repaired by the utility.
Reason:
There is an issue
with Novell Client 3.2. Novell resolved many of the issues associated with
Client 3.2 with its later client releases, beginning with Client 3.21 Support
Pack 3.
Resolution:
1) Download the latest Client from the Novell web site. Click http://www.novell.com/download/index.html
to go to the Novell web site and download the file.
2) Upgrade Novell Client 3.2 to the latest Novell Client on all
of your workstations.
3) Recover from your most recent Renaissance Learning database
backup. If you do not have a valid
database backup, continue with step 4.
4)

When updating all of
your workstations to the latest Novell Client, you will also want to verify
your advanced settings to ensure data integrity. See article #1681022 for
the list of settings, these settings may have changed when upgrading your
client.
NOTE: Make sure when
any upgrades or changes are made to your workstations you verify the client
software has not been changed.
